Publisher’s tan covers illustrated and lettered in red-and-gold, and prominently bearing the Ukrainian coat-of-arms. Black-and-white photographic frontispiece of Sikevich accompanied with many additional black-and-white photographs, portraits, group portraits, and illustrations. Two very faint spots, and lightest edgewear to the covers, short, neat period ink inscription to the upper-left margin of the title page. Contents, otherwise, entirely without blemish with bright, clean, and unmarked pages and firm, sound binding.

He served as a colonel in the general staff of the Russian army. During the Ukrainian struggle for independence (1917–20) he served as brigadier general of the Army of the Ukrainian National Republic and head of the Repatriation Commission of the UNR consulates in Hungary and Austria (1919–20).
