Bound in original light-blue cloth over boards with black rules, lettering, and ornamentation to the spine and front board, circular blind-stamped vignette and borders to the front board. Extremities exceptionally well-preserved showing only the faintest rubbing to the edges, text-block shows some occasional underlining, wholly unaffecting the legibility of the text, and strictly confined to the following pages: 15-16, 27-28, 32-34, 46, 48-49, 53-55, 72-75, with the remainder of the text-block without blemish or markings, and firm, sound binding. A scarce offering of the First American Printing of this work of Marxist political philosophy by Italian Marxist theoretician, and philosopher Antonio Labriola (1843-1904) whose thought would influence the works of Corce, Gramsci, Bordiga, Trotsky, amongst others. Translated and printed by pioneering leftist American publisher, abolitionist (and vegetarian) Charles H. ![Volvelle Wednesday? Not quite, but please have a look at this charming Volvelle (or a rotating paper chart) published as a promotional instrument by the Kellogg Cereal Company. Modelled after the American version, this is the first one we’ve seen which incorporates the Canadian provinces, accompanied with a variety of facts and figures for each. First Edition, First Printing. One revolving wheel, mounted upon stiff card covers measuring 17 x 17 cm. Exceptionally rare and charming early Canadian culinary ephemera as issued by the Canadian subsidiary of the Kellogg Company of the United States, and illustrated by Allan D. Gow. The card bears the names of each of the Canadian provinces (ten provinces and territories at time of publication), printed in alphabetical order around the wheel. The wheel is in-turn illustrated with a map of Canada, the Canadian Parliament, various Kellogg cereal products, and a pointer with cut-outs revealing information about each of the respective provinces as the wheel is rotated (e.g.: Capital, Population, Date Entered Confederation, Highest Land Elevation, Principal River, Railway Mileage, et al.). Verso bears additional text and illustrations, with commentary entitled: “Wise Eating Makes Healthy, Active Bodies”. Exceedingly rare in commerce. At time of cataloguing not found in OCLC (although we note the presence of one holding at Yale). Nominally corresponds to its sister American publication similarly titled and published one year prior in 1931: “Kellogg’s wheel of knowledge: interesting facts about the United States”.
