A fierce denouncement of Watson Kirkconnell’s: “Canada, Europe, and Hitler”, wherein the author, Mandryka, repudiates point by point nearly the entirety of Kirkconnells’ chapter on Ukrainian matters. In the preface the author writes, “In the book, “Canada, Europe and Hitler”, Mr. Watson Kirkconnell, Professor of Classics at Wesley College, University of Manitoba, devotes many pages to Ukrainians and the Ukrainian Question. The book has been received with confidence in various quaters. A certain reviewer noted that “the chapter on the Ukrainian Question may be found especially illuminating”. Nevertheless, this part of Professor Kirkconnell’s book contains many serious errors and misleading assertions, which should be corrected in order to prevent the misrepresentation. In a study of the source material used by Professor Kirkconnell in his book, it is evident, that he uses almost exclusively anti-Ukrainian source material, and as such, is so one-sided, that he has made himself open to criticism on Ukrainian matters”. Mandruke goes on to dispute many of Kirkconnells’ historical assertions including his views on the origin of the Ukrainian people, their distinct language, and culture. (#2085) $85.00
