Bound in full teal cloth with gilt lettering and decoration to spine and front board. Black and white photographic frontispiece of the author protected with the original tissue-guard in addition to eighteen illustrations, one map and a “Table of Syllabic Character Adapted for the Eskimo” housed amongst the rear endpapers. Light edgewear, some fraying to corners, ink stamp to corner of ffep otherwise contents remain overwhelmingly clean and unmarked with tight, sound binding. Overall, very good. A fascinating account of the missionary work of The Rev. Edmund James Peck (1850-1924) for the Church Missionary Society with the Moose Cree and Inuit of the Quebec coast of Hudson Bay where he was instrumental to translating The New Testament into Inuktitut.
