Blind-stamped cloth over boards featuring lovely floral motifs, and gilt lettering to the spine, untrimmed top edge. Light edgewear, some lifting of the cloth along the edges of the spine. Lovely neat period ink inscription to the ffep otherwise contents remain bright, clean, and unmarked with tight, sound binding; very good. Henry Francis Cary was best known for his blank verse translation of Dante’s, The Divine Comedy; he also translated and published, The Birds of Aristophanes in 1824, and roughly a decade later, in 1834, his translation of Odes of Pindar also appeared.
