Richly Illustrated with numerous black-and-white photographs, portraits, illustrations, facsimiles, etc. Comprises of a complete programme published on the occasion of the commemoration of the centenary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth as organized by the Winnipeg-based Ukrainian-Canadian Committee. Includes a complete order of events, with details of times, ceremonies, names and lists of speakers, details of a folk festival wherein artists recited and played from the famed Ukrainian author’s works, the unveiling of a monument in this honour, details of a memorial concert held at the Civic Auditorium, details of a dinner whose participants included Prime Minister John Diefenbaker, his wife, presentation of awards, and much else. Also comprises of various written tributes by elected officials including by Prime Minister John F. Diefenbaker; Manitoba Premier, Duff Roblin; Saskatchewan Premier, Tommy Douglas; the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, amongst others. Rare to be offered in commerce. Two very small faint spots to the lower-right margin of the front cover, else, near fine. Unrecorded in OCLC.
