Slim tall 8vo., measuring 23 cm. Stiff boards, held with single string binding through one small hold-punch at top left corner. Black and white illustrations, temperature charts, tables etc. Extremities quite rubbed, soiling to rear board. The contents remain largely clean, and unmarked though the title page, and a few rare pages show significant spotting, tide-marks (though never affecting the legibility of the text). Features over 122 recipes for all manner of baked goods including breads, cakes, pastries, frostings, doughnuts, cookies, griddle cakes, and much else. Included within are a range of testimonials from across the nation by avid bakers (including a number from Winnipeg, Manitoba) attesting to the quality of the Egg-o baking powder products. All testimonials are accompanied with the date, name and location of the respondents. Hardcover. See Driver’s Culinary Landmarks, p. 540, Citation No. O367.1. While Driver notes the presence of one copy of this title being held in the United Kindom, we have been unable to locate this – the first printing – amongst any institutional holdings. Indeed, it does not appear to be recorded in OCLC, Library and Archives Canada, Guelph Archives & Special Collection: Cookbook Collection, McGill, et al. Exceedingly rare in commerce, and even more so amongst institutional holdings. This, the Canadian edition, was subsequently reprinted in 1925.
