Both a yearbook and a literary statement, this issue includes article “The Church College and Education by principal Mackay of Manitoba College; “The Cultural Value of Icelandic” by Watson Kirkonnell; plus other articles. Text entirely in English. This school was at the center of Icelandic culture and education in North America – many prominent Icelanders participated in it as students and teachers. Kristjanson states (p. 398), “In the twenty-seven years of its existence, the Jon Bjarnason Academy enrolled over seven hundred students. Because of its distinctive atmosphere and good teaching, the school made a lasting impression . . ., [its] young people have spread to nearly every province of Canada and nearly every state in the union, many finding their vocation in the professions, including the ministry, teaching, medicine, law, engineering and music”.
