Rich selection of local, Canadian, and ethnic recipes compiled by the Women of the High Bluff (Manitoba) United Church. Unusually (for its time) this parish was headed by a female minister (the Rev. I. Marguerite Miller). All recipes accompanied with the names of their respective contributors. Sections include: Muffins, doughnuts, buns, scones; Cookies; Cakes, slices, icing; Pies, tarts; Puddings; Salads; Casseroles; Candy; Pickles; Jelly and jam; Miscellaneous. No detectable flaws, contents bright, clean, and unmarked; near fine. We note a lovely passages from the preface entitled, “Recipe for Living: 1 cup good thoughts/ 1 cup kind deeds/ 1 cup consideration for others/ 2 cups of sacriface (sp)/ 3 cups forgiveness/ 2 cups of well-beaten faults. Mix these thoroughly and add tears of joy, sorrow and sympathy for others. Flavor with little gifts of love and kindness. Fold in four cups each of prayer and faith to lighten the other ingredients and raise the texture to great height of Christian living.
