Original illustrated cream cloth over boards with an image of a blue ribbon to the centre of the front board, red-and-blue lettering and rules to the spine and front board. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece of the depicting the Blue Ribbon manufacturing facility subtitled “Manufacturers and Packers of Blue Ribbon Tea, Coffee, Baking Powder, Extracts, Spices, etc”, and accompanied with six striking colour advertisements of various Blue Ribbon Products (on pgs. 157-68). Retains all four of its original coupons. An exceptionally well-preserved chopy showing only the lightest rubbing to the cloth extremities; text-block entirely without blemish with firm, sound binding. Exceedingly rare to be offered in commerce in this edition, and state. Corresponds to Elizabeth Driver’s definitive bibliography on the subject: “Culinary Landmarks: A Bibliography of Canadian Cookbooks, 1825–1949”: Citation No. M7.21 (p.934), wherein, she notes that “the twenty-third edition was probably published after 1950, since it was given to the Dean of Women at U. of Manitoba in 1952 for her comments”.
